Welcome to Rugrats
Private Day Nursery!
Rugrats started
off as a dream many moons ago but with a lot of hard work our vision is now
reality. Our nursery is a small intimate family owned and run facility that
provides excellent day care for 32 0-5 year olds. We are situated in the North
East of Dundee near the new Ballumbie Primary School
located just a short drive off the Drumkieth Road.
With a new Core Service Building in progress opposite us there are lots of
exciting developments happening which the children will enjoy learning about.
The nursery is situated on one level in attractive large secure gardens, what
appears to be a small bungalow from the outside is really a light spacious well
equipped nursery…it is really a tardis and must be
seen in person!
We actively encourage lots of
outdoor play and believe the children will love to learn through their
experiences that the ‘natural environment’ can offer. We really want the
children to be happy while at Rugrats and work
closely with parents to make sure the little ones feel at home during their
time. Our motto that we encourage is ‘happy to be me’ and we hope that we help
children find their own personalities and that they are really happy to be
themselves.
Staff
Emma Wilson
(Director)
Hi there,
I hope that you like my vision and enjoy what Rugrats
has to offer. I’m a mum of 2 young children and worked for many years in
business development and regeneration. A nursery business is something that I
have always wanted to develop and have been lucky enough to make it a reality.
As a parent I feel I know what parents are looking for and want the children to
feel comfortable, loved and cared for, whilst enjoying learning through the fun
activities we have to offer. I have employed highly skilled staff who I would
happily leave my own children in the care of. I will be over seeing the running
of the nursery and hope to meet all parents and welcome any
suggestions/feedback. I want the parents to feel part of the nursery and will
endeavour to help with any personal requirements that parents/children need.
I’m currently undertaking studying to compliment the degree I currently hold.

the nursery.

Rooms
0-1 Jelly Babies
This room
is a cosy room with lots of soft furnishings and stimulating toys to encourage
sensory development with the younger ones. Our ratio here is 1:3 and this room
will have plenty of opportunities to encourage interaction without feeling lost
in numbers. The room is light and spacious and the children have plenty of
space to explore. There is a baby changing facility located out-with the room.
1-2 Jelly Babes
Our
second under 2 room which again is a 1:3 ratio room.
Tactile and messy play is freely available and the children have lots of
opportunities to learn through play with an attractive range of toys and
educational supplies. Each room has access out to the garden and decking areas.
2-3 Jelly Beans
This
forms part of our over 2 unit and the ratio in this room is 1:4 which ensures the
children get more hands on attention from the staff. A range of facilities is
on offer in the over 2 unit and this room has access out to the garden area.
Our children’s toilets are located out-with the room and the children have
access to these at all times with supervision.
3-5 Jelly Tots
This is
our second room in the over 2 unit, following on from the 2-3 room. There are a
number of facilities the children have with an excellent source for junk
modelling and information technology. We encourage independent play and
exploring the natural environment. The ratio in this room is 1:6 which is below
the standard 1:8 ratio. The children will benefit from this greatly.
Sleep Room
A lovely cosy room with calming colours and soft furnishings. There
are a number of options for the children to sleep comfortably with soft seating
to help those that need settled. The décor, lighting and music helps create a truly lovely setting.

A current nursery fee chart is also
provided in our Parent Information Pack which is available on request by email
or telephone. We also invite you to arrange a personal visit to the nursery
where you will have an opportunity to discuss individual requirements for your
child.
We are unable to offer funded
places for children over 3 until we have been operating for a year and can
apply for partnership with Dundee City Council. This is something we fully
intend to do but in the meantime please contact us as we will have discounts/special offers running throughout the year for 3-5’s to help
compensate for this.
